“We spent all year in this lovely share house, the location is very central you got everything around very close to central station many bus stop to go everywhere in Sydney. The Landowner take a good care of the house if you need something you just need to ask. Thanks for everything Greta it was a good year spend in this house take care.”
“While looking for a place to live in Sydney, for me the main prioroties were - location, cozy environment and, of course, people I would have to share the house with. That’s why me and my partner were really lucky to get a room in Chalmers house! To start with the location, it is very convenient as it takes just a bit more than 5 minutes to the station from where you can reach any part of Sydney. It takes less than 10 minutes by train and around 20 minutes by foot to get to the city center! Talking about the room, it was small, but bright and cozy, with its own bathroom (no need to share toilet or shower with others!). Finally, the house is looked after a very caring lady, who is always ready to help with any issues or questions! That’s why people who lives in the house share the same understanding and respect for their neighbours.”
“In Chalmers house I have spent more than a year! House is in a good condition, with a big renovated kitchen and our favourite outside bbq area! What I liked the most, that it is very easy to communicate with both - lady looking after the house and housmates. The owner is always open for a discusion and changes if needed. People who are lucky to get the rooms share the same house rules which helps to respect each other as well as a clean and friendly atmosphere. As my job requires to be in different locations, living next to the Central Station (only 5-10 minutes away) was one of the best decisions, really easy to reach all the suburbs. Sport is a big part of my life, so the big park just a few minutes away is a very big plus: running paths, basketball playgrounds, tennis courts, pool, rest and picnicking areas. Great choice for a person who has busy agenda! ”
“We are a couple of Colombians who arrived in July 2018 to the house of Chalmers St to live a great multicultural experience, where we could share with many people from different parts of the world, very kind and respectful housemates. The house is in a fantastic location, room n1 has its own bathroom, is clear, pleasant and spacious. The kitchen is shared with the other rooms and there is enough space to store your things. If you want to live a multicultural experience and close to the city, we recommend living in this house.”
“My partner and I lived at the Chalmers House for one year and had a great experience. We were new to Australia and were used to living alone and thus a bit nervous about living in a flatshare. Our concerns were almost instantly alleviated upon seeing the house and meeting the landlord Greta. Her professionalism and overall care for the tenants made us feel extremely comfortable. The house was very well managed and the furnishings were clean and good quality, which can be hard to come by! The flatmates were carefully chosen and therefore were all responsible, considerate and a joy to live with. Furthermore, every bedroom had it’s own lock, which made us feel very safe. If any issues or concerns ever arose, Greta always dealt with it. During our time there, she even had the kitchen beautifully renovated to better accommodate the tenants. I highly recommend the Chalmers House or any other household managed by Greta. It was the best flatshare experience I’ve had!”
“Hello, my name is Andrew. I am Chinese from Singapore and came to Sydney for my graduate studies. I actually met Greta and Suresh at another viewing appointment and they talked to me and understood my situation and drove me to see the Chalmers House. I put my offer almost immediately after viewing as I found the place homely and also convenient to my school. I stayed in the house from Oct 2017 to June 2018. Personally I really enjoyed my time over there. Apart from the location, facilities and tidiness which I am sure people could see from the photos or from house viewing appointments, this shared house is unique in a sense that it gives me a homely sense of belonging. Greta, who is like a mother figure to all of us, despite not staying in this house, visits here regularly to make sure everything is in order and also implements regular upgrades. We had a big kitchen renovation in early 2018 and now it just looks amazing. It is very nice of Greta to initiate all these upgrades and also to coordinate all the events meanwhile trying to minimize the disruption to our lives. The housemates (a very international, multi-cultural group) have ownership to this house. People keep the communal areas clean and use the communal appliances responsibly. We have WhatsApp groups to update each us the happenings at home. We invite each other to head to the beach on weekends. We sit down at the kitchen table and talk to each other after school/work, we share our life stories, we rant about stresses at work or school and we listen to each others and cheer each other up. It felt that I had another big family in Australia. And I believe this is what makes Chalmers house so special. I highly recommend this place not only for its convenient location, good amenities and facilities, but also, more importantly for the feeling of home.”
